An Unexpected Blessing!

106_4445Don't you just love unexpected blessings? :) Today, Mom and I drove out to our friends, the Kilpatrick's, home for a visit and to drop off some skirts that I had made. We had a wonderful afternoon of fellowship! I enjoyed an afternoon walk with my friend Hannah, playing with their three kittens, stamping Mother's Day cards, and spending time with the kids while the moms spent some time with each other.

As we were getting ready to leave, Mrs. Kilpatrick surprised me with many beautiful dishes that she no longer needed. I think most of them are from Okinawa, which I believe is a small island off of Japan. I have the perfect place for them...in my hope chest. :) I love the blue plates and bowls because they remind me of the toille design that you see in all of the old colonial and country decor...my favorite! I can't wait to use them! Thank you Mrs. Kilpatrick!

Lately, Eric has caught some sort of strep throat-type bug, and tonight I have an awful headache (which is what Eric had at first). :) Hopefully we are not all getting sick! Maybe it's just allergies...I hope! Ah, it's that time of year. :)

What a nice gift!! I am not sure how I found your blog, but did find it a few days ago. I was surprised to find out that you went to an actual school-I for some reason, assumed that you were homeschooled. Might have been that I was totally different from you at that age. I am 29 now. I enjoyed reading some of your sewing posts.
Hope you have a good rest of your week!!
Elise

Hi Elise! Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I actually was homeschooled too. I went to public school until 7th grade, and then my parents decided to pull me out. :) I'm glad you're enjoying reading about my sewing projects. Do you like to sew yourself? Thanks for your comment! I hope to hear from you again!

Hello, Again!

I was wondering if you would allow me to put a link on my blog to yours? Glad to finally "meet" you!?

Liz,

P.S. I love those dishes...what a wonderful surprise gift!

Hi Liz! No, I don't mind at all! Do you mind if I add a link on my sidebar to your blog? Nice to "meet" you too. :)

Those are gorgeous! :)

I would love it if you added me! Thank you so much!

Ohhhh!!! Alli, they're absolutely beautiful!! I wish that I could see them up close. A friend of our family has helped me start a collection of the red. So far the ones that I have are antiques. I really like getting them out and dreaming about when I'll finally be able to use them in my own home someday :) .

Those are SO pretty!!! I love white with blue... kinda like my quilt, minus the yellow... Oh, I can't wait 'til we can work on the quilts again!!! Miss you!

Those are such pretty dishes Alli!

I love getting things like that for my hope chest. :)

Hey Alli,
I do like to sew. I tried my hand at little girl's dresses-pillowcase dresses-even sold a few at craft shows. My model(my 3 year old, Lilly) is not always so willing so I don't make them for her anymore. I have also sewn curtains for our home and pj pants for my little boy. It is so nice to be able to make something special rather than have to buy everything. I want to learn to sew well with a pattern or just wing it and make myself some skirts. Maybe one day...

In high school, we girls used to beg our Sunday School teacher to homeschool us! I plan to hs my children starting this fall. Did you like being homeschooled?
Thanks!!
Elise
